Since LUMENROCK's inception it has been a member of GMN International, an association of carefully selected professional accounting firms established and respected in their own countries. Each firm is a separate and independent legal entity. The GMN firms are situated all over the world and is represented on all the continents of the world.

The mission of GMN is to be a leading association of quality accounting firms worldwide. The relationships between member firms of GMN, forged by regular personal contact, positions them to access international information and support rapidly and at a high level. GMN even has a "48 hours rule": when a GMN member company contacts a member firm for an advice, this member guarantees to respond within 48 hours. And, of course, the clients get the benefits of this!

Two of the original firms, before the consolidation of firms that set up LUMENROCK, were members of GMN International, the first since 2003. Our one director, Ignus Kempen currently serves on the 3-man Management Committee of GMN International and he is also the immediate past chairman and a member of the Management Committee of GMN Africa. Our other director, Pieter Esterhuizen, currently serves on the Marketing and Business Development Group of GMN International and also serves on the Management Committee of GMN Africa.

We wanted an international association to help us in serving our clients in a globalizing world. GMN and LUMENROCK have a lot in common: flexibility, rapid solutions and personal contact are points of recognition. Or, as the motto of GMN says: "Know-how is knowing who"!

Since Investec was founded in South Africa in 1974, we’ve expanded through substantial organic growth and strategic acquisitions in South Africa, the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

Our strategic goal is to develop an efficient and integrated business on an international scale, by actively pursuing certain core competencies in our six business areas.

Investec became the first South African group to list in London and Johannesburg in July 2002, by implementing a Dual Listed Companies (DLC) structure. The London listing has increased our global profile, enhancing our ability to raise capital and improving access to international capital markets.

On 10 June 2004 Old Mutual (OM) announced the creation of Masthead Distribution Services.

Masthead was an initiative aimed to ensure that independent brokers would have all the security and assistance they needed to run a successful and sustainable financial practice, while remaining independent.

There had been speculation that the introduction of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) would mean the death of the small broker.

The new company was launched to provide support & assistance to independent brokers facing these significant changes.

Masthead offers these brokers a free service to handle licence applications, inspect their practices, be their compliance officer, submit annual audits and assist client complaints through an ombudsman.
