LUMENROCK Self InsuranceSelf-Insurance, also known as self-funded health care, self-funded insurance, or simply self-funding, can provide extra benefits and value to both yourself and your employees. Simply put, Self-Insurance is where the employees (sometimes with an added contribution by the Employer) pay funds into a collective pool. These funds are then used to invest and further grow the assets of the Self-Insurance entity. Any claims made by employees or their dependents for any of the benefits provided by the entity will be paid from this pool of funds and investments.
There are different ways to setup and manage self-insurance, and there are some legal stipulations, such as the fact that the funds paid for Self-Insurance benefits need to be kept entirely separate from the Employers Funds.
If you are interested in finding out more information about Self-Insurance benefits and pitfalls, contact our LUMENROCK team for information and advice about this service tailored to your business and needs.
Ignus Kempen served on the Southern Region Council whilst Pieter Esterhuizen was in his first term 2010/2011 on SAICA’s Southern Region Council. They achieved this by virtue of the fact that they were chairman of SAICA’s Southern Cape District association representing the interests of all the CA’s (SA) resident in the Southern Cape area.
